Holstein Canada is seeking a skilled Database Administrator and Developer to support a ETL and data migration project and ensure reliable, secure, high-performing SQL Server environments. This role works closely with SMEs, analysts, developers, and internal teams to understand business rules, data relationships, validation needs, and operational requirements.

The successful candidate will bring strong SQL Server, ETL, reporting, database administration, and documentation skills, along with the ability to learn complex systems, troubleshoot issues, and support controlled deployments.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Design, develop, administer, and support SQL Server databases, ETL processes, and related solutions.
  • Manage backups, recovery testing, maintenance, indexing, monitoring, and health checks.
  • Manage Azure DevOps build and release pipelines for SQL Server database, SSIS, SSAS and SSRS projects, ensuring controlled deployments, validation, and rollback processes
  • Write, debug, and optimize complex T-SQL, stored procedures, functions, and database objects.
  • Support data mapping, migration, validation, reconciliation, and issue resolution.
  • Build and maintain database and BI solutions using SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve database performance, query execution, resource use, and configuration.
  • Support database security, access management, permissions, service accounts, and secure data handling.
  • Coordinate refreshes, environment updates, deployments, version control, validation, and rollback processes.
  • Document business rules, ETL logic, standards, dependencies, procedures, and processes.
  • Collaborate with SMEs, analysts, developers, third parties, and internal teams on reliable data solutions.

You offer:

  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, IT, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong experience with SQL Server, T-SQL, SSMS, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, ETL development, and database administration.
  • Experience building and maintain data warehouses
  • Experience with backup/restore, recovery testing, maintenance, performance tuning, indexing, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with data migration, mapping, reconciliation, validation, and data quality resolution.
  • Knowledge of database security, permissions, access reviews, service accounts, and handling sensitive data.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, Visual Studio, Git, GitHub Copilot, deployments, pipelines, and environment promotion is an asset.
  • Ability to quickly learn complex business processes, systems, terminology, and data relationships.
  • Strong documentation skills to create clear standards, procedures, and support materials.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented approach with sound judgment, curiosity, adaptability, and a commitment to reliable systems.
  • Experience using GitHub Copilot IDE and CLI tools

The salary for this position will be approximately $70,736 - $88,419.
